Vintage 50s Sheer White Organdy Apron with Floral Hanky Hem
This beautiful vintage apron is great for the hostess to put on after the messy work is done. The sheer white organdy fabric is stiff, holding its shape nicely, especially at the ties when put into a bow. The hem area is inset with a 14 floral hanky that has been split and splayed out, and sewn to the organdy apron with each quarter separated and placed on the square at the outside, and in diamond orientation at the front. The hanky has shades of blue, pink, white, green, and yellow used to create delicate posies of flowers. The edge is scalloped, and is bound with light blue stitches. The top of the diamond shapes is trimmed with pink and gold rickrack. There is a pocket at the right hip. It is shown over a full skirted dress typical of the era in which it came from.
