Vintage 30’s Cream Lace Puff Sleeve Top Blouse XS

This beautiful late 30’s to early 40’s top is made from delicate lace, both hand and machine sewn. The lace has what appears to be two twist mesh. It is adorned with a theme of grape clusters in dense mesh and embroidered outlines. The shirt opens at the back of the neck and at the left side seam, closing with glass buttons and metal snaps respectively. The glass buttons are a mix of faceted balls at the top and bottom, and rhinestone set frosted glass at the center, with a hook and eye close at the top of the collar. The sleeves have a puff shoulder, and fitted arm.
The shirt would have been worn over a proper slip-weight top. I have shown the shirt on a mannequin with a green cover and a black ribbon at the waist. These are not part of the shirt itself, but do show the see-through nature of the lace.

The lace is strong enough to withstand an occasional cautious wearing, but will not give or stretch much, so proper fit is imperative. It would make a lovely display piece for a collector.

A few small breaks in the mesh of the lace can be found under inspection, but they blend very well with the intentional openings in the lacework.
There is some darkening at the underarms, but nothing noticeable or detracting when worn or displayed.
It has been freshly hand washed, dried flat.
