Vintage 40’s Black Velour Wide Brim Pancake Flapjack Hat

This lovely vintage hat is in the style often referred to as a pancake or flapjack hat. The style was meant to be worn way back on the head over the perfectly coiffed hairstyles of the 40’s.

It has a plush velour brim and small crown. A velvet bow wraps around the crown and ties in the back. A small hand crafted hatpin is in place at the top of the crown. The hat attaches to the head with two prongs, which are part of the velvet covered wire frame.
The underside is a lightly ribbed backing material, and it is trimmed at the underside edge of the brim with grosgrain ribbon edging.
